Masterclass Weekend Initiative is proud to introduce the former American Ballet Theater Soloist Anna Liceica. Anna has been serving on the jury panel of Youth America Grand Prix since 2007 and has taught multiple YAGP masterclasses all over the U.S.
Liceica began her classical ballet training at the National Ballet School of her native Bucharest, Romania. First Prize winner at the Romanian National Ballet Competition, she continued her training at the School of American Ballet in NYC, where she received the Mae L. Wein Award for Outstanding Promise. She was soon invited to join New York City Ballet where she performed in most of the company's Balanchine repertoire from 1992 to 1996 (including NYCB's The Nutcracker movie).
In 1996 Liceica joined the American Ballet Theater. More prestigious competition prizes followed: the Diagilev Award and the Silver Medal at the 3rd Rudolf Nureyev International Ballet Competition, and The Viewers' Choice Award at the Maya Plisetskaya International Ballet Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia.
In August 2000 Anna was promoted to Soloist with American Ballet Theater. Her repertoire included all great classics like Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Don Quixote, Bayadere, Raymonda, Coppelia, Cinderella, as well as numerous contemporary master works.
Liceica's partners included Marcelo Gomes, Gennadi Saveliev, Sascha Radetsky, Bejamin Millepied, Damian Woetzel, Ethan Stiefel, Sebastien Marcovici, and Vitali Krauchenka.
As a Soloist with ABT Ms. Liceica has performed all over the globe: United States, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Romania, Hungary, Japan, China, Korea, Singapore. Today she is a Principal Guest Artist with Deutsche Oper Berlin where the list of her many roles includes leads in La Gioconda and Onegin.
